Analysis Of The Book Beautiful Disaster - 1395 Words

Abby Abernathy, the main character in the book Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, is a headstrong, smart girl. She is a freshman at Eastern University and has good grades. She purposefully picked a school far away from home and went there with her best friend, America. Abby has made an effort to stay away from those who are bad news. America is dating Shepley, who happens to be roommates with his best friend and cousin, Travis Maddox. Travis has strong muscles and he is obviously tattooed. He fights in secret rings only a select group knows about. He also never loses and wins money for each fight. He is exactly the type of guy Abby has been trying to avoid, however she finds herself spending a lot of time with him. Eventually, one thing leads to another and it becomes clear that even though Travis makes his way around when it comes to the girls, he actually cares for Abby. She refuses to let herself feel the same way for him for quite a while, doing what she can to strictly be frie nds with him. At one point, the hot water in the girls’ building at college was not working so they went to stay with the guys at their apartment for a few days. While there, Travis and Abby made a bet and if Abby lost, she would have to remain living with him and Shepley for a month. Abby still took the bet, knowing she was about to lose. During that month they grew a lot closer and when the month was up. She left as quickly as she could.
